What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a type of skin treatment that can treat a variety of skin conditions.
A handheld electronic device is used to deliver pinpoint needles into the skin, creating hundreds of vertical microchannels. This controlled trauma to the skin, induces a wound healing response, which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibres.
What is it good for?
Microneedling can be used for the following indications:
-
Fine lines and wrinkles

-
Scarring (trauma, burn or acne scars)

Hair Loss

What does the treatment involve?
Skin will be thoroughly cleansed, followed by the application of a deep hydrating serum. The Dermapen device is then passed over the areas of the face or body to be treated. Following treatment, soothing mask is applied, to calm the skin followed by a peptide serum to accelerate healing.
When will I see results?
Improvement in skin tone and texture may be seen in as little as 2 weeks post-procedure However, it can take as long as 6 to 8 months following a course of treatment. Certain scars types can take up to 12 months to see the final results.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on your skin concern. Usually the best results are seen after a course of treatments, but you may only need one. An individual treatment plan will be devised at your consultation.
How long do the results last?
This will depend on the response you have to treatment, and the steps taken to look after your skin in order to maintain results. With the right approach to lifestyle and skincare results can last up to 12 months.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is generally well tolerated. A numbing cream can be applied before the procedure if you are particularly sensitive.
