What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are one of the most requested treatments for facial rejuvenation. 

They are are gel like substance containing a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA). 

What are they used for?

They are used to restore lost volume, and smooth out the appearance of fine lines and folds. They can also be used to create & enhance facial contours, and add volume and hydration to lips.  

What does the treatment involve?

Once a topical anaesthetic has been applied, the skin is thoroughly cleaned to remove any bacteria. The fillers are then injected into the facial tissues using either a needle or cannula. Following treatment the filler may be massaged to smooth out any uneveness and encourage integration into the tissue.

When will I see results?

Results are visible on the day of treatment & will continue to improve over following weeks.

 

How long does it last?

Most dermal fillers are temporary and will last anywhere from 6-12 months, depending on where they have been placed in the face. 

Does it hurt?

A topical anaesthetic is applied to the area for 20-30 mins to help alleviate any discomfort. If a cannula is used there may be a sensation of tugging under the skin, although this may feel strange it is completely normal.
